Get to know Paklenica National Park

The entire length, from the canyon of Senj to Zrmanja, the valley of Velika and Mala Paklenica are the only complete break of the coastal slopes of Velebit. Canyon valley to the sea, and to the continent beyond the valley crept up to the highest peaks of Velebit, and their basins, and the only flow streams of Velebit coast.

Great Glen Paklenica is 2.5 kilometers long, in which upper part is the largest verticals in the Velebit: Anića – kuk. That 400 m high rock is also the most popular climbing spot in Croatia.

The entire basin Mala Paklenica is difficult accessible and less visited, and the future was defined as “wilderness zone” in which the griffon vulture nests. Of several large caves in the National Park is the most beautiful Manita furnace in the lower part of Velika Paklenica. Explored length of this cave is 175 m, with impressive dimensions of underground chambers. The largest debt is 65 m and 32 m high. In the early 20th century in Manita furnace was found endemic pseudoscorpion.

Within the National Park there are about 150 km of hiking trails. Certainly the most frequented is the path of incoming reception, Velika Paklenica Canyon to the Paklenica Mountain House (about 2 hours).

Tickets for the Paklenica National Park visitors can buy at the entrance desk of the park in the canyon of Velika Paklenica, where the visitors can also get all the information related to activities in the park and the schedule of buildings. Souvenirs, which will remember them on stay in the Paklenica National Park, visitors can buy in souvenir shops in the administration building of public institutions “Paklenica National Park” in Velika Paklenica canyon.
