Passing by the road, the visitor will be able to enjoy a vivid view of the Oštarija plateau bordered by rocky hills, and already from the Oštarija gate there is a wonderful view of the Adriatic Sea and the islands of the Zadar and Kvarner archipelago.

The trail includes a 3-kilometer long section of the old Austro-Hungarian Tereziana road, which connected the former regimental center of Gospić with the port of Karlobag via Velebit. Teresijana was built in 1786 on the instructions of Emperor Josip II, and was named after his mother, Empress Maria Theresa.

Passing along the road, the visitor will be able to enjoy a vivid view of the Oštarija plateau bordered by rocky hills, and already from the Oštarija gate there is a wonderful view of the Adriatic Sea and the islands of the Zadar and Kvarner archipelago. Descending down the path opens up views of a small green karst depression bordered by the gray of sharp rocks – Konjsko, in which the sheep and horses of the local population still graze today and live in a few remaining households.

In addition to the spectacular views, the excursionist will be able to experience the border of two climate-vegetation areas (mountainous and Mediterranean) and, through interpretive panels, get to know the flora and fauna of Velebit, the beauty and diversity of the karst phenomena, the cultural and architectural heritage of this region and the Teresian road itself, the life of the people on Velebit once and today,…
